PCB circuit open and short circuits are problems that PCB manufacturers encounter almost every day, which have been troubling production and quality personnel. The problems caused by insufficient shipment quantities, delayed delivery, and customer complaints are difficult for industry professionals to solve. I have accumulated some experience in improving PCB open and short circuit problems, and now I have written a summary for colleagues to comment on PCB manufacturing. I also hope that colleagues who handle production and quality can use it as a reference.

We will first summarize and classify the main reasons for PCB open circuits into the following aspects:

Open circuit formed by exposed substrate:

1. There are scratches on the copper-clad board before it enters the warehouse;

2. The copper-clad board was scratched during the cutting process;

3. The copper-clad board was scratched by the drill bit during drilling;

4. The copper-clad laminate was scratched during transportation;

5. The copper foil on the surface was damaged due to improper operation when stacking the boards after copper deposition;

6. The copper foil on the surface of the production board was scratched when passing through the leveling machine.
